Topic: Completely unreliable--even the simplest apps.

I am frustrated and worried that this rather expensive gift is turning out to be an electronic paperweight.
So many things do not work. Let's start with the supposedly easiest service/app. The Talking Clock app, worked the first night I had this thing and has ceased to work reliably--sometimes it tells the time, sometimes it is 10 minutes off but usually it just sits there, quiet as a tomb. It seems that anything having to do with time, just can't be relied upon--the memo app does not work either.
I really want this to work but I am not seeing anything on violet.net or anywhere else that is giving me much hope.

Re: Completely unreliable--even the simplest apps.

I'm surprised that you're not getting the clock results.  I've had only occasional problems with that app.  Now, it WILL be plus or minus quite a few minutes, but for me, it's not silent.

I haven't tried the memo app. at all.

What I've found works best is running a script off of a PC of your own, and using the web API.  That's been pretty successful, and for me, more useful than most of the built-in apps.  I do use the clock, alarm clock, and random "moods" built-in apps.

Thanks for the reply--what you are suggesting, is sadly, beyond my capabilities and at $150.00 I should be able to remain blissfully ignorant of such skills.... smile If it's not the clock and the memo apps, then it is the laggy email alerts, the radio stations that don't work or the almost catatonic  life my rabbit leads most of the day. He occasionally perks up but not enough to warrant the hefty price. I am still pondering whether to return him or not.

I agree with maya613. The clock should work. Last night at about 21:15 CET Benjamin announced proudly that it was 19:00.

Benjamin is still a young bunny. He arrived with us in January, but this is the second time he has lost all sense of time in a month!

I certainly can't argue with that.  I think the same now as I did two years ago: "... For now, if you do some programming and would enjoy playing around with the api and creating custom services, and you can put up with frequent downtime, it's worth the money. For others, I couldn't recommend it."
