Topic: How to format a stock symbol?

Hi folks,

The website directs me to Yahoo finance to find out how to format a stock in XXX.XX or XXXX.XX format. Yahoo finance doesn't, however, show that format anywhere on the page. I've tried various combinations of stock symbol and the market codes but always get "Invalid Parameter".

Thanks,
Reeves

Re: How to format a stock symbol?

Are you able to get basic stock symbols to work, like yhoo or aapl?  Not sure about the xxxx.xx format.  I just tested a ticker symbol like that which I found on Yahoo Finance, tried it, and it did not work (invalid parameter).  But the basic stocks I have set up seem to be working fine.

Re: How to format a stock symbol?

Normally the AAPL or YHOO codes should work just fine.

Spacebunny, did you indicate when you wanted the application to be played ? Otherwise you get this message (invalid parameter).

Re: How to format a stock symbol?

AAPL and YHOO indeed work like a charm along with several others I have set up.

Earlier when I saw Reeves post, I tried a symbol with the xxxx.xx format as a test, and I got the error.  But it works now, which makes me think it was user error on my part.  Sorry about that.

Reeves, I just set up HDN.BE as a test and it works for me.  Have you gotten it set up ok?

Re: How to format a stock symbol?

Last night I tried "MSFT" as the stock symbol and "On demand" as the schedule. It didn't work.

I tried again tonight and it saved successfully.

However...

When I ask my bunny for "Market" it tells me that it can't tell me the status if I haven't configured it on the website. "Weather" and "Smog" do work for me.

Cheers,
Reeves

Re: How to format a stock symbol?

Hmm... perhaps air quality isn't working quite right. I'll make a second post asking about that under a unique topic.

Re: How to format a stock symbol?

Ah ok, now I see what you mean.  We might need Violet to jump in and clarify, but from what I can see, the voice recognized "Market" command only activates the Stock Exchange application that reports on a particular index, like Dow Jones. Even though I have the Markets app configured for specific stocks, those are not spoken by the Nabaztag on voice request -- just the index which is set up in the Stock Exchange app ("The stock market is up a little...").

Re: How to format a stock symbol?

Actually, only the 'Market' application (in which you can choose an index) can be triggered by voice command. The 'Stock exchange' application (where you can put your personnal values) cannot be triggered by voice. On the website, the keyword market is indicated for both services, but it shouldn't be there for the 'Stock exchange' application.

Okay, thanks. His stomach is reporting the custom stock symbol correctly. Thanks!
